First dairy cow trail started for the project “Practical feeding measurements for methane reduction on dairy farms”. The following article was publiced by the Dutch magazine “De Boerderij”:
On a Dutch dairy farm in Dalfsen Anke Hitman, animal nutritionist of Feed Innovation Services BV, and Robin van Rossum, trainee on the farm, measured the methane emission of dairy cows in a milking robot. The measurements were done to research the effect of different feed products on the methane emission. Gas analysis equipement was used for the measurements.
The goal of the project is to reduce the methane emission on dairy farms by changing the ration of the cows, for example by adding feed additives to the ration.
The research started in August 2011 and lasts until June 2013.
